Dr. Carlton is a family nurse practitioner (FNP) who joined Covenant in 2009. She is adjunct and clinical faculty for the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. She has more than 28 years of experience in allergy and asthma practice. She received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Belmont University in 1990, graduating cum laude; a master's degree in nursing and completion of the nurse practitioner program at Vanderbilt University in 1994. Dr. Carlton received a doctor in nursing practice degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2008. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society, Chattanooga Area Nurses in Advanced Practice, and was the recipient of the 2006 Allied Health Recognition Award, presented by the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunotherapy. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a family nurse practitioner and by the National Asthma Education Certification Board as an asthma educator.
